Americans United for Separation of Church & State certainly is NOT
a left-wing organization that is dedicated to religious freedom only for secular leftist organizations.
That is a bunch of rubbish.
AU is for separation of Church and State, nothing more.
AU is not for or against any religion.
While a large number of AU's members are atheists,
a number of their members are religious people from
many different religions and sects.
Of course a large number of the members of AU are socialists and left wingers.
But that doesn't make AU a socialist left wing organization.
As a Libertarian I routinely complain about socialists and left wingers,
but my problem is not with socialists and left wingers, but with
socialists and left wingers who want to use the government to force
me to pay for their socialist, left wing schemes.
There isn't a damn thing wrong with socialism if it is done willingly
without being forced upon you by the government.
A perfectly example is a family, most which are run as a socialist scheme.
Mommy and daddy usually do all the work, while the kids get to freeload
and use the resources that mommy and daddy acquire for them.

AU is a left-wing organization that is dedicated to religious freedom only
for secular leftist organizations including like-minded religions while
opposing all religions that are not on their side.
There is religious political organization in Arizona named Valley Interfaith (VI)
which is a left-wing version of the Christian Coalition.
VI has ties to religious leftist churches like the Episcopalians, Menonites,
Unitarians, Lutherans and Presbyterians in which VI meetings and
recruitment takes place in parishes that back VI affiliates
I experienced this first hand when I was a Episcopalian
in which there were VI heads at an campaign meeting in opposition to a ballot initiative.
One of the VI leaders talked about recruitment efforts they did at a local church
in which they are also supported by education unions and are heavily active in the Democrat Party.
I would not be surprised if this conference will also be used to help revive or
help strengthen VI groups in which their influence has waned somewhat in recent years.
I appreciate Mike posting this since it is for information purposes but
I would suggest saving your time or putting your efforts toward a
more useful purpose rather than going to this conference.
It is a political organizing meeting and nothing more.
