I suspect the main purpose of this Mesa Citizen Police Academy
is propaganda by the Mesa Police to teach citizens
that the Mesa Police never make mistakes and more
importantly that they should support taxes for more cops.
Of course if you ask me America, Arizona, Maricopa County and the city of Mesa already have too many stinking cops and that we need less cops. I also think that the Mesa police by excluding felons and people that have been arrested for misdemeanors is a violation of the equal protection clause of the Arizona Constitution. Mesa offers Citizen Police Academy by John Genovese - Jan. 6, 2012 07:33 AM The Republic | azcentral.com Mesa police will host the two-month Citizen Police Academy beginning next month, offering the public the chance to better understand the role of law enforcement in the community, officials said. Classes, beginning Feb. 15 and ending April 25, will be held from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays. The course will consist of a mix of classroom presentations and hands-on experience, giving participants the chance to learn "what goes into the making of a police officer," according to a news release. Presentations will be held on topics including gangs, street crimes, SWAT, bombs, narcotics and the crime lab. Students will be given an opportunity to fire a weapon during "Range Day," held on a Saturday morning during the course. Participants must be at least 19 years old, live or work in Mesa, have no prior felony arrests, no misdeamenor arrests within the last year and pass a background check. Mesa police ask anyone interested to call 480-644-4139 or download an application at mesaaz.gov/police. Citizens can attend Mesa Police AcademyIf this fingerprint workshop is only open to Boy Scouts I suspect it is a violation of the Arizona Constitution. That is because the Boy Scouts are a quasi-religious group that refuses to admit atheists and gays to their organization. It probably violates the section of the Arizona Constitution that forbids spending money on religious groups and a violation of the "equal protection" clause of the Arizona Constitution.
